Frequently Asked Questions

We get a lot of questions. Below are the honest answers — including the ones that come up when someone is on the fence. If yours isn't here, email Kendrick@activecookware.com. He responds personally.

Is this worth the price? $89–$299 seems expensive for kitchen utensils.

Fair question. Here's the honest math: you're not buying a spatula. You're buying the accuracy of every meal you track from here on out. If your macros are off by 200 calories a day — which is easy to do when you're estimating — that's 6,000 calories a month running against your goal. Six weeks of effort producing nothing, or worse, the wrong direction. The Starter Set is $159. That breaks down to under $0.50 a day over a year. If it closes the gap between what you think you're eating and what you're actually eating, it pays for itself in the first month.

And there's a 30-day guarantee. If it doesn't move the needle, it costs you nothing.

I've tried tracking before and it never sticks. Why would this be different?

Most tracking solutions ask you to add a step to an already-complicated process. A separate scale on the counter. An app to open mid-cook. A device to tare, weigh, log, wash, and put away — every meal, every day. Active Cookware doesn't add a step. It replaces the utensil you were already holding. The reason tracking doesn't stick isn't that you're undisciplined. It's that the tools you've been given make it easier to quit than to continue. When the measurement happens automatically while you cook, there's nothing to remember and nothing to skip.

I'm not consistent enough to actually use this. I always start strong and fall off.

That's exactly what Active Cookware is designed for. You shouldn't have to be highly disciplined for this to work — that's the point. A good system works on your worst weeks, not just your best ones. If you're already cooking, you're already using the tool. The scale works whether or not you're motivated that day. The habit forms because the process requires nothing extra from you.

Is this actually a real working product, or is it still in development?

It's real. We've been cooking with working prototypes daily during development. Every photo and video on the preorder page was taken during actual cooking — not staged, not rendered, not post-production. The scale works. The display works. This is a physical product with a November 2026 ship date, not a crowdfunded concept we're still figuring out.

Why preorder now instead of waiting until it's in stores?

Two concrete reasons. First, Founding Member pricing saves you $23 to $75 depending on the bundle — that price is gone permanently once this preorder closes. Second, we have a hard cap of 1,000 units in this production run. When they're spoken for, the next availability is at full retail with no confirmed timeline. If you're going to buy this eventually, buying it now costs less and guarantees you're in the first group.

How accurate is the scale?

±0.1 grams. That's the same precision standard as professional kitchen scales. The built-in load cell sensor is calibrated for real cooking conditions — movement, heat, liquid contact — not just tabletop static weighing. Maximum capacity is 2.5 lbs (approximately 1.13 kg).

Do I need an app or Bluetooth to use it?

No. Active Cookware smart utensils work without a phone, app, or pairing process. The digital display is built into the handle. Pick it up, and it reads. That's it. No charging, no syncing, no waiting for Bluetooth to connect while your food gets cold.

Is it safe to use in a hot pan?

Yes. The utensil head is heat-resistant and designed for stovetop cooking. The handle is engineered to insulate the electronics from cooking temperatures. Use it the same way you'd use any high-quality kitchen utensil — stir, flip, serve, measure. That's what it was built for.

Is it dishwasher safe?

The utensil head is fully dishwasher safe. The handle — which contains the display and sensor — is hand-wash only. Same standard as any kitchen tool with electronic components. Wipe the handle with a damp cloth after each use; the head goes in the dishwasher as normal.

What's the battery situation?

The utensils run on replaceable batteries. No charging dock, no USB cable, no plugging in. Batteries are readily available and last for months of regular cooking use. Replacement instructions are included in the box.

Can it measure in grams and ounces?

Yes. Toggle between grams and ounces directly on the handle. The display updates instantly. Log in whatever unit your tracking app uses.

When does my order ship?

Estimated delivery: November 2026. You'll receive a confirmation email the moment your order ships, with full tracking information. If the ship date changes for any reason, you'll hear from us directly before anyone else.

Do you ship internationally?

This preorder ships within the United States only. We're working on international availability and will announce it to our email list first. If you're outside the US and want to be notified when international shipping opens, email us your country.

What if I want to cancel my preorder?

Email us before the ship date and we'll cancel and refund your order in full, no questions. You're not locked in. Plans change — we get it.

What's the return policy?

30 days from the date of delivery. Full refund. Prepaid return label. No forms to fill out, no restocking fees, no interrogation. Email Kendrick directly at Kendrick@activecookware.com, and we'll handle it within 24 hours.

What if mine doesn't work as advertised?

Return it. Full refund. No debate. The guarantee exists because we stand behind the product — not because we need to paper over uncertainty. If it doesn't make tracking easier than anything you've tried before, it should be free. That's the standard we hold ourselves to.
